SoaSE is quite good but my favourite ones must have been Warcraft 3 and C&C2 actually...

Well the only strategy based game I've really played for a long time was Heroes III. It's turn based but it's awesome.

would turn based make it an rts? idk but for me it has to be C&C Generals- I loved that game. don't mind hopping onto a bit of dow every now and then.
